After rejecting a proposal to allow beer sales on Sunday, a Kansas House committee endorsed and sent to the full House a bill to raise the state’s legal beer-drinking age to 21 over a three-year period.

Almost exactly five years after a plan was outlined to convert an old church building at 1501 N.H. into the Lawrence Community Theater, the LCT christened its new home.

The brother of my college roommate turned 18 right before the change in the legal drinking age went into effect. For three years in a row he could legally drink for four days.
