Meals on Wheels seeking volunteers to handle food deliveries

The Lawrence Meals on Wheels is seeking volunteers for its program that provides meals to area seniors and people with disabilities.

Kim Cullis, program coordinator, said the need for volunteers is especially great now because many of the volunteers have moved away or retired. The routes begin at 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. Typically, it takes less than an hour for volunteers to deliver, said Cullis. Volunteers can sign up to deliver on a specific day, or fill in when needed. Parents can bring their children along on routes.

Meals on Wheels requires about 20 volunteers daily to serve more than 100 clients.
