From the Lawrence Daily World for Jan. 18, 1910: “At a meeting of the Presbyterian Brotherhood last night it was decided to advertise the Sunday evening church services (a new approach to seeking attendance). … For the lack of initiative, we may allow one of the most important industries in the city to slip through our fingers. While Olin Bell of the Bell Bros. is looking at propositions of other towns for his business, we are doing nothing to keep him and his firm here.”
