2 prison escapees caught in Mississippi

? Two men who escaped from a minimum-security Kansas prison on Thanksgiving have been captured in Mississippi.

Scott Dwyer and Wayne Purdy walked away from a work release program at Winfield Correctional Facility on Nov. 26.

Cowley County authorities say they were notified that Dwyer was arrested Wednesday evening in the Mississippi town of Batesville. Purdy was arrested without incident Thursday morning about 40 miles away in the town of Grenada.

The men will be brought back to Kansas to face escape charges. Winfield prison officials said Dwyer and Purdy won’t be returned to a minimum security facility any time soon.
