United Way of Douglas County and Douglas County Community Foundation are playing host to eight workshops in 2010 to help develop the skills of nonprofit leaders.

The first workshop, “Effective Fundraising for Community Organizations,” is from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lawrence Arts Center, 940 N.H. Attendees are encouraged to bring a brown-bag lunch.

The remainder of the workshops will be on the second Tuesdays of the month, from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the K-State Extension building at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 2100 Harper St.

However, there are no workshops planned for June, July or August.

The events are free and open to the public.
