University Bridge Club announces results of its Jan. 2 meeting, with hosts Al and Carol Smith.

Blue winners were Roz Zimmerer, first; Al Smith, second; Richard Quinn, third; Walt Hicks, fourth; and Doug Baur, fifth.

Pink winners were Sue Baur, first; Carol Smith, second; Karen Zimmerer, third; Jane Golden, fourth; and Willi Stark, fifth.

The Wednesday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Dec. 30 utilized the Howell movement and was directed by Chris Lane. Winners were Julia Dalton and Lester Dalton, first in A; Grant Sutton and Catherine Blumenfeld, second in A; and Marilyn Martin and Jack Flickinger, third in A and first in B.

The Monday Evening Duplicate Bridge Club’s game on Jan. 4 utilized the Howell movement and was directed by Virginia Seaver. Winners were Steven Vossler and James Masilamani, first in A; Lois Clark and Craig Huneke, second in A, first in B, and first in C; Patrick Musick and Jolene Andersen, third in A, second in B, and second in C; and Virginia Seaver and Paul Heitzman, fourth in A.

The annual year-end Regional Bridge Tournament was Dec. 26-31 at the Overland Park Sheraton Convention Center. Nearly 600 people participated in the event. Thirty local Lawrence participants won or placed in tournament. They were Ed Howard, Eldon Herd, Shari Krentzel, Rhonda Montgomery, Mike Montgomery, Klee Zaricky, Yvonne Hedges, Shirley Reese, Sally Taylor, John Fittell, Jolene Andersen, Steven Vossler, Emily Foster, Chris Lane, Grant Sutton, Craig Huneke, Patrick Musick, Jeremy Martin, Lois Clark, Don Brennaman, Samuel Pierron, Carol Ball, Mona Bell, Eleanor Patton, Bobby Patton, Betty Collier, Virginia Eddy, Judy Bevan, Janet O’Connor and Virginia Johnston.
