4-H and FCE news

The Lone Star 4-H Club met Dec. 14 with 15 members attending. Haizly Bowen was initiated into the club. The club wrapped presents for its adopted family. New business consisted of a discussion of County Club Days. Volunteers are needed for this event.

The Four Leaf Clover 4-H Club’s Dec. 14 meeting was called to order by President Ryal Mitchell at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. Mitchell also led the club in the flag salute. Song leader Lydia Holland led the club in singing “Jingle Bells.” Roll call was answered by members reciting their favorite color.

Sommer Ferguson, county council member, reported on an achievement and club day celebration meeting in November. Paula Aiken, community club leader, reported that 4-H County Club Days will be Feb. 20. She also told the club the presents for their adopted family had been bought and wrapped by the leadership group. The leadership group did a project talk about 4-H County Club Days. The club rang bells on Dec. 21 at Hy-Vee, 3504 Clinton Pkwy.

Ferguson moved to end the meeting by saying the 4-H pledge and motto; it was seconded. The meeting was adjourned followed by a gift exchange.

Kanwaka FCE will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Beverly Bourque, 2425 Brookside Drive. Aliene Bieber will present the lesson, “A Cup of Christmas Tea.” Members are asked to bring their favorite tea cup and share a story about it.

The India FCE will meet at noon Thursday at the home of Regina Shaver, 3031 Rimrock Drive. Lunch will be served. Roll call will be answered by your favorite New Year’s trip. Shaver will also present the lesson, “Favorite Old Time Games and Activities.”
