Capitol Federal vice president retires

John B. Dicus, chairman of Capitol Federal Savings, Topeka, announces the retirement of vice president/branch manager Joe Oberzan on Jan. 19. An open house will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the bank’s west Lawrence branch, 1025 Iowa.

Oberzan has served the bank for nearly 42 years. He is a native of Lawrence and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fort Hays State University in 1965.

Oberzan joined Capitol Federal as a loan officer trainee in March 1968, after two years in the U.S. Marine Corps with active duty in Vietnam. During his years of service to the bank, Oberzan held the positions of assistant cashier, assistant vice president and vice president. He has served as branch manager at the bank’s downtown Lawrence branch, 1046 Vt., and currently manages its west Lawrence branch, as well as the location inside the Dillons store at 4701 W. Sixth St.
