College Station, Texas ? Junior Iuliia Kuzhil set a Kansas University record in the 100-yard backstroke Friday at the Big 12 Championships. With a 52.80-second runner-up finish, Kuzhil beat her previous KU record of 53:06, set last season. The finish qualified Kuzhil for the NCAA Tournament and put the Jayhawks in fourth place going into the last day of competition.

Sophomore Stephanie Payne also set a KU record in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:13.83.
