India, Pakistan hold first talks in 15 months

? India and Pakistan are holding high-level peace talks for the first time since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

The meeting between the two countries’ foreign secretaries began this morning in New Delhi.

It was not expected to lead to any major breakthroughs.

But getting the two countries talking again after 15 months is seen as an important breakthrough.

The U.S. hopes that lowering tensions between the rivals can help Pakistan concentrate its resources on fighting the Taliban along the Afghan border.
