Former KU football players Reesing and Zook to appear together

Kansas quarterback Todd Reesing warms up at Arrowhead Stadium before taking on Missouri in the 2009 Border Showdown.

Two of the most memorable players from the Kansas University football program’s Orange Bowl appearances (1969 and 2008) will team up tonight at a book-signing appearance.

Former quarterback Todd Reesing will join former defensive end John Zook, an All-America selection in 1968, in signing copies of “Touchdowns & Traditions: Celebrating 75 Years of the Orange Bowl, 1935-2009” from 6-7:30 tonight at The Oread, 1200 Oread Ave. The signing is a private event.

Reesing, the Jayhawks’ all-time leader in nearly every major statistical passing category, has spent the days since the season ended in November preparing for a chance to play in the National Football League. Reesing has said that he hopes to catch on with an NFL team through the upcoming NFL Draft or free agency, but also has said that he would entertain offers from other professional leagues, such as the Canadian Football League.

Reesing led the Jayhawks to the 2008 Orange Bowl championship, which was the culmination of a 12-1 season.

Zook finished his KU career with 202 tackles, fourth on the school’s all-time list among defensive linemen. He played 12 seasons in the NFL with the St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Falcons.
