— After 23 years of service, Eudora Police Chief Greg Dahlem is retiring.

Dahlem, 50, will officially leave the post April 1.

"He was instrumental in moving the department forward and we thank him for his years of service," Eudora City Administrator John Harrenstein said.

Harrenstein will speak with Eudora City Council members about the process of filling the position and hoped to be close to a decision April 1.

The city also is in the process of hiring a fire chief after the departure of Randy Ates in January.

Shouldn't take long for crime rates to double and half the officers to find new jobs with him being boss.

Half the officers have already left in case you haven't noticed. Maybe Greg Neis will come back from Baldwin and be chief.

Eudora is experiencing an alarming trend. So far the list of departed includes:

-city administrator -building inspector -fire chief -police chief

What would prompt the loss of so many key management people?

Any other "retirement" coincide with his?

fastdragger 5 years, 5 months ago

Yes. The woman that worked down there at the police station quit as well. In fact, they just hired a new lady that is really nice to be the secretary down there.

Who cares? She was a witch! She drained the city budget. It was all spent on downtown. For what reason? And by wasting all this money, the streets are falling apart.

Maybe the new cheif can get some of speed limits raised and some of the useless stop signs removed!

blackfox 5 years, 5 months ago

Greg has been a good cheif. Easy to get along with and will always anser a question. Good luck Greg.

I would quit too if I had to work for Grady instead of Dahlem.
