Democratic State Senator from Kansas City says he’s considering bid for U.S. Senate

Would replace Sam Brownback

? State Sen. David Haley says he is thinking about running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Sam Brownback.

Haley, a Democrat from Kansas City, said on Wednesday that he would make his decision after attending the Kansas Democrats’ annual Washington Days event later this month.

Republican Reps. Todd Tiahrt and Jerry Moran are already seeking the seat that Brownback is leaving to run for governor.

Haley says he’s concerned about the tone of the race Tiahart and Moran are running. He says he wants to work with the federal government, not against it.

Charles Schollenberger, of Prairie Village, already has announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination.
