Two arrested on battery charges after IHOP fight

One suspect was stabbed with a fork in self-defense

A 32-year-old Lawrence man was arrested and treated at the hospital Wednesday morning after being stabbed with a fork in a fight at IHOP, 3102 Iowa.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Ted Bordman, the man was arrested on charges of aggravated battery. The puncture wounds he suffered were non-life-threatening and he was expected to be discharged from the hospital Wednesday morning. A 25-year-old male acquaintance of the man was arrested on charges of simple battery and making criminal threats.

One of two victims in the incident stabbed the 32-year-old man in the neck with a fork in self-defense. No one else was transported to the hospital, although one victim was treated at the scene for rib pain and shortness of breath. Both victims were male.
