Lawrence man arrested after incident involving shotgun

No one injured in incident that started as a domestic disturbance

February 17, 2010

A 22-year-old Lawrence man was arrested on charges of aggravated assault early Wednesday after allegedly pointing a shotgun at his neighbor.

According to Lawrence Police Sgt. Ted Bordman, the incident, which occurred in the 2100 block of Quail Creek Drive, started as a domestic dispute between the 22-year-old suspect and his 23-year-old girlfriend. The couple's upstairs neighbor, a 22-year-old man, heard the fight, became worried and went downstairs to check on the situation. The female involved in the domestic disturbance allowed the neighbor inside the apartment, where the male pointed a shotgun at him.

No shots were fired and no one suffered serious injury. The 23-year-old woman suffered minor injuries as a result of the alleged domestic battery but was not transported to the hospital.

The suspect was arrested at 2:59 a.m. on charges of aggravated assault, domestic battery and criminal damage of property.

So the perp gets out of jail and is gladly taken back by his sparring partner. Been there, done that, never again.

Thank God for the upstairs neighbor stepping in. If not, who knows what would have happened to the girl or how long she would be stuck with that jerk.

Now because of a good Samaritan that had the cojones to step up, she can move on.

I just pray that the victim is strong enough to realize that she MUST get away from this abuser. I'd bet money he's done it before and no doubt would do it again and again. Maybe until he kills her. I hope she seeks counseling to get past this. Like you said, ksjawk74, thank God for that neighbor. Hope He can keep her safe!
