Ozawkie man remains hospitalized after accident

A 40-year-old Ozawkie man who was involved in a fatality accident last week in Jefferson County remained hospitalized Monday afternoon.

James Allen was listed in fair condition at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka, where he was taken after the crash Friday night. Kansas Highway Patrol troopers said they haven’t determined yet what caused Allen’s vehicle to enter an oncoming lane of traffic, which resulted in a head-on collision that killed Katherine Olmsted, 42, of Ozawkie.

The accident occurred about 5:35 p.m. Friday, about a half-mile north of the Perry Lake bridge on Ferguson Road.
