Impaired-driving patrol over weekend nets 5 arrests, 13 tickets in Douglas County

Douglas County sheriff’s deputies made five arrests and 18 traffic stops, as part of a four-hour saturation patrol Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Two people were arrested for driving while intoxicated, and three were arrested for driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Officers also issued 13 tickets to drivers for violations including no proof of insurance, expired registration, driving without headlights, child and adult restraint violations, failing to stop at a stop sign, turn signal violation, excessive speed, unsafe start of vehicle and possession of alcohol by a minor.

The saturation patrol, conducted between 11 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday, was part of the state’s Impaired Driving Deterrence Program. A grant pays the overtime expenses for the four officers who participated in the patrol.
