Republicans report fundraising totals in bid to succeed Dennis Moore

? Two Republicans lead in fundraising in a crowded field in Kansas’ 3rd Congressional District race.

Finance reports show state Rep. Kevin Yoder of Overland Park raised about $233,000 during the last quarter of 2009. He finished the year with almost $228,000 in cash on hand.

Former state Sen. Nick Jordan of Shawnee reported raising $115,000 during the last quarter of the year and had $117,000 in cash at the end of 2009.

Jordan was the Republican nominee for the congressional seat in 2008, losing to incumbent Democratic Rep. Dennis Moore.

Moore is retiring at the end of his current term. Yoder and Jordan are among eight Republicans seeking to replace him.

The only Democrat running is Lake Quivira doctor Elizabeth Gallup, who filed near the end of December.
