Prairie Village ? Free State’s fourth-quarter rally fell short, and the Firebirds dropped a 54-47 high school girls basketball decision to Shawnee Mission East on Thursday night.

Free State trailed by 16 points entering the fourth quarter, but outscored East, 19-10, in the final period.

Ashli Hill led the Firebirds with 22 points, followed by Chantay Caron with 13, Jackie Garcia with seven and Lynn Robinson with five.

Free State (9-5) will entertain Shawnee Mission South at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
