Moran raises nearly twice as much as Tiahrt in bid for GOP nomination for Kansas’ U.S. Senate seat

? Jerry Moran has widened his lead in campaign cash over Todd Tiahrt as the two Kansas congressmen seek the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate.

Moran’s latest campaign finance report shows he received almost $394,000 in campaign contributions during the last quarter of 2009. He ended the year with $3.71 million in cash.

Tiahrt raised about $190,000 in campaign contributions and finished the year with $1.32 million in cash on hand.

On Oct. 31, Moran had $3.48 million in cash on hand, to $1.4 million for Tiahrt. Tiahrt spent more than he raised in the last quarter of the year.

Tiahrt’s campaign said he’s building a robust organization. Moran’s campaign says the numbers show voters have concerns about Tiahrt.
