Web site expands ‘classified’ information

Advertising in Journal-World classifieds still carries the familiar length limits, scheduling rules and payment procedures.

But now there’s an online option: Marketplace Classifieds, which offers flexibility to expand messages to as many as 4,000 characters, plus add a variety of photos, videos, maps and other media to help sell homes, cars and other items and services to an increasingly tech-savvy public.

Some offerings — items listed for less than $100, or posting a “Love Letter” for Valentine’s Day — are free.

“We’re trying to guide people into using this system,” said Jerry Hall, Journal-World classified manager. “They can try it out for free. If they like what they see, they can go in and use it for other things.”

Customers can order free and paid services and upgrades 24 hours a day, at LJWorld.com/marketplace/classifieds. Online categories include merchandise, rentals/real estate, employment, autos, garage sales, lost and found, and pets.

Customers may pay for online classifieds using a credit card.
