A fire in rural Tonganoxie left a two-story home a total loss.

The blaze started about 5:30 p.m. at 16222 DeHoff Road, the home of Doug and Jennifer Tate.

No one was in the home, southwest of Tonganoxie, at the time of the fire, officials said, and a cause wasn’t known Monday evening.

The Reno, Sarcoxie, Tonganoxie, Fairmount and Stranger township fire departments, as well as Tonganoxie City Fire Department, responded to the blaze.
