Douglas County prosecutors on Tuesday filed an aggravated assault charge against a 46-year-old Lawrence man who was accused of threatening his girlfriend with a knife during an argument at 10 p.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Schwarz Road.

The girlfriend, 39, of Lawrence, also alleged he verbally threatened her, said Sgt. Matt Sarna, a Lawrence police spokesman. Police arrested John Paul Cron at 5 p.m. Monday in connection with the case, and prosecutors filed the charge against him Tuesday. A judge set his bond at $10,000, cash or surety.

@ Anybody still reading this line of discussion ...

Isn't there some better term for adult companions than "girlfriend" and boyfriend"? These two, for example, are 39 and 46 ... not exactly a "girl" and a "boy". If you are tottering down the hall of the nursing home to see that special someone, is it still proper to refer to them as "girlfriend" or "boyfriend"?

Nice people..Just have had a lot of bad things happen in their lives over the past year..They have been together forever..No excuse to put your hands on anyone though..Maybe the time in jail will give him time to reflect on his choices in life...Sure they will be back together when its all said and done.

he was an individual who seemed like a very polite neighbor until the night i heard a loud crash and a woman screaming. living very closely to the couple involved makes me sad for both. but more for her. no names are needed. either way two people's lives are not what they should be. no one should be afraid of the one they love. to the people that commented on this..realize it has nothing to do with where they're from.

Ditto, gnome. No one-woman or man-needs an abuser in their life.

Wow. Threaten someone with a knife, get out on $10K.

Threaten seven people and hit one with a truck, get the same.

The moral: if you want to do a crime, make a vehicle your weapon of choice.

They must have edited it since your post stuck. It is in there now. Where is this guy originally from I wonder? A. Eudora B. Topeka C. KC Mo. D. Ottawa

I purposely left out Lawrence because we know, Lawrence people don't behave this way.
