Topeka council to spend $5 million to revitalize downtown

? The Topeka City Council has agreed to spend $5 million over three years to revitalize the downtown.

Many in the crowd attending Tuesday night’s council meeting erupted into applause as the council voted 7-1 to dedicate money for the project.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reported that supporters included 15-year-old Michelle Hubbard. She got big laughs when told council members that the capital city is “boring.”

She says the city would be more fun if “interesting stuff” was added to downtown.
