Kansas City, Kan. ? U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom says a Leawood man has admitted being part of a scheme that sold $1 million worth of counterfeit Cisco computer equipment.

Forty-one-year-old Christopher Myers pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court to conspiring to smuggle counterfeit goods into the United States and sell them.

An Overland Park man, 28-year-old Timothy Weatherly, pleaded guilty to the same charge last month.

Grissom says in a news release that Myers admitted he and Weatherly imported computer equipment from China from 2005 to Nov. 14, 2006. They then used counterfeit Cisco labels, boxes and manuals to sell the equipment over the Internet.

Grissom says when investigators served a search warrant on Nov. 8, 2006, in Merriam, they found thousands of counterfeit Cisco goods.

In his plea, Myers agreed to forfeit $1 million as proceeds from the crime.
