Super lightweight boxer “Vicious” Victor Ortiz, who was born in Garden City and sports a Jayhawk logo on his mouthguard, is scheduled to fight Lamont “Havoc” Peterson in the HBO-televised, 140-pound title fight on Saturday night at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Ortiz, 23, has won four straight matches against high-profile opponents, including Antonio Diaz and former world champions Nate Campbell and Vivian Harris.

The Ortiz-Peterson bout is one of the co-featured fights on a card that includes a battle between Amir Khan and Marcos Maidana.

Ortiz owns a record of 28-2-1 overall, with 22 knockouts.
