— A Linwood man has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually molesting a young relative.

Thirty-four-year-old Chris King was sentenced Wednesday in Leavenworth County District Court on two counts of rape and other charges. He will be eligible for parole in 25 years.

King was convicted in October of sexually abusing his 8-year-old relative between August 2007 and January 2008.

Defense attorney Scott Toth told The Leavenworth Times that he will file an appeal.

Before he was sentenced, King told the court that he had not assaulted anyone, suggesting the girl was only seeking attention.

"but if you get drunk and kill a bicyclist while driving, it's just a slap on the wrist.".... Care to share? Or is this just broad speculation?

Thanks. I was pretty busy this past Spring and i never saw this but it doesn't detract from the fact this guy deserved life.

I also agree, out justice system needs to step by and re-evaluate how we punish people, and make punishments more suited to the crime that someone comitted....

Example: (Donte Stallworth - pro football player) was 2.5 times the legal limit at approx 5am, when he was speeding down a busy downtown street in FL and killed a man who was sitting at the bus stop. He got punished with 30 days in prision, and a hefty settlement due to the victims family...30 days in jail, and he killed a person.

This guy gets life in prision, but the 8 year old will live on and one day forget about her negative child hood.

** I'm also not promoting child abuse, but think a crime's punishment should fit the crime that was comitted...

Also, pay attention to the final charges and see what the sentencing guidelines are in accordance with Kansas statutues.

He's really trying to claim that an 8 year old, who was 5-6 at the time of the abuse, is just wanting to get attention?? Would a 5 year old even know what rape was to accuse him doing it? I think not... lock him up!

Gotta love the way he tries to blame it on the 8 year old!

i to believe that the molestation of a child is not acceptable but their right just what kind of a punishment does a drunk driver get why is the molestation of a child worse than the taking of a life??? and when will the public raise up in protest....

I can only hope that the prison's general population give him what he deserves. What an absolute sicko.
