Veritas boys, girls roll to Shea tourney finals

? Veritas Christian School’s boys basketball team defeated Flint Hills Christian, 44-18, on Friday in the semifinals of the Shea Tournament.

Ethan Kay scored 12 points for Veritas (2-0).

“We ran our offense better than the night before and our defense was good. Effort and hustle was there. It’s a fun group to coach and we’re just happy to be in the championship game,” coach Gary Hammer said. Veritas will meet Heritage-Olathe at 8 tonight in the finals.

Veritas girls 57, Flint Hills 22

Manhattan — Veritas Christian School’s girls basketball team defeated Flint Hills in the semifinals of the Shea Tournament on Friday.

Junior wing Kayli Farley scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Madison Bennett added 10 points.

“We pressured them hard and forced a lot of turnovers,” Veritas coach Kevin Shelton said. His squad advances to tonight’s 6:30 p.m. final against Manhattan Chief.
