Dallas — SMU coach June Jones has signed a two-year contract extension that would keep him at the school through the 2014 season.
Another Bulldog arrested
Athens, Ga. — Another Georgia football player has gotten into trouble, and this time it’s one of the team’s top running backs.
Tailback Washaun Ealey, who led the Bulldogs in rushing a year ago and expected to share carries this season with Caleb King, was suspended for at least one game after being arrested early Friday.
Ealey was charged with hit and run and driving on a suspended license.

Woods fades at Barclays
Paramus, N.J. — The Barclays, a tournament that once looked as though it might belong to Tiger Woods, shifted late Friday to the hands of the 22-year-old Australian Jason Day, who showed some of his great promise with three late birdies for a 4-under 67 and a one-shot lead.
Nine players had at least a share of the lead at some point during the second round until Day’s late surge. He was at 8-under 134, one shot clear of Kevin Streelman (63) and Vaughn Taylor (70) going into the weekend of the FedEx Cup’s first playoff event.
Wie hanging on to lead
Winnipeg, Manitoba — Michelle Wie’s second round didn’t have the wow factor of a hole-in-one, but a 3-under 69 on Friday was enough to keep her atop the leaderboard halfway through the Canadian Women’s Open.
Trio tied at Gleneagles
Gleneagles, Scotland — Gary Boyd and David Lynn of England and Julien Guerrier of France were tied for the lead at the Johnnie Walker Championship on Friday, completing two rounds at 9 under.

Seattle — The first-place Minnesota Twins made their revamped bullpen more versatile for the pennant race by acquiring left-handed reliever and four-time All-Star Brian Fuentes from the Los Angeles Angels Friday for a player to be named.
Manager Ron Gardenhire said before Friday’s series opener at Seattle that he will use the now-former Angels closer as a set-up man for closer Matt Capps.
Gallardo robbed at gunpoint
Milwaukee — Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo and clubhouse attendant Alex Sanchez were robbed at gunpoint early Friday, hours after Milwaukee’s ace pitched in a loss to the Dodgers.
Gallardo did not take any questions after briefly discussing the incident outside the team clubhouse before the start of the Brewers’ three-game series against Pittsburgh.

Knicks sign Patrick Ewing Jr.
New York — Patrick Ewing Jr. is back with the team where his father became famous.
The team says the former Georgetown star signed with the New York Knicks as a free agent Friday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Ewing was the 43rd pick of the 2008 draft by Sacramento, but wound up with the Knicks through a series of moves.
Nuggets hire Ujiri as GM
Denver — Former Denver Nuggets international scout Masai Ujiri was appointed the team’s new executive vice president of basketball operations on Friday.

New Haven, Conn. — Nadia Petrova took advantage of her last-minute addition to the field at the Pilot Pen tennis tournament, moving into the finals with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Maria Kirilenko on Friday.

St. Louis — St. Louis Rams wide receiver Donnie Avery could miss the entire season after tearing a right knee ligament late in the first half of a preseason game Thursday night.

Busch wins Chicagoland trucks
Joliet, Ill. — Kyle Busch withstood two late challenges for the lead from Todd Bodine and hung on to win the NASCAR Camping World truck series race at Chicagoland Speedway in overtime Friday night.
It was Busch’s second straight truck win at Chicagoland, his fourth series victory of the season and 20th of his career.
