Kansas Rural Center’s annual meeting to focus on young people and farming

? Getting young people involved in farming and ranching is the topic of a presentation to be given during the Kansas Rural Center’s annual meeting on Saturday.

The event will be held at the Red Rock Guest Ranch near the Jackson County town of Soldier, about 40 miles northwest of Topeka.

Weldon Sleight, dean of the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture, will speak about how to encourage the next generation to get involved in farming and ranching.

The presentation is open to the public, as is the center’s board meeting.

The Kansas Rural Center, based in Whiting, is a private advocacy group that promotes sustainable agriculture.
