Prosecutors filed rape charges Monday against an 18-year-old Lawrence man after a Sunday morning incident at a Kansas University fraternity.

According to police, a female KU student was at the Delta Chi fraternity house, 1245 West Campus Road, Saturday night and fell asleep in one of its rooms. Authorities said she was then sexually assaulted by the suspect, who was an acquaintance. She returned to her residence hall room and called the police.

Prosecutors also filed an alternative charge of aggravated sexual battery in the case. Bond was set at $35,000, and the defendant was ordered to have no contact with the victim.
