The 1000 block of Massachusetts Street will be closed two times this fall for KU football parties.
Commissioners agreed to allow KU Athletics, Downtown Lawrence Inc., and the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce to close the street on Sept. 2 and Oct. 21.
Both events are on Thursdays, and will close the street from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. The parties, which won’t involve alcohol being served in the streets, will include a live broadcast of KU coach Turner Gill’s weekly radio show, a pep rally, and inflatable playground equipment for children.

"no alcohol" guess I'll come straight from work, so I don't have to get sober.

Sounds like a great idea, if it were on a Friday night or Saturday before a game. Thursday? Has KUAC spent so much money on big Lew's travel budget that they can't afford to run a top flight pep rally? I'm a rabid KU football fan, I buy season tickets, I go to away games, and I go to bowl games. This is ridiculous and I won't be going.
