If the application is accepted, the grant would pay for two electric trash trucks and two electric cars to be added to the city's fleet.

Commissioners agreed to apply for a federal grant that may help both the city and the county add more electric vehicles to their fleets.

Commissioners said they were fine with applying for the grant, but would want more information about the cost effectiveness of electric vehicles before finalizing any purchases.

The city should learn by mid-September whether it has been awarded the grant.

I'm sure the extra costs will 'pay for themselves' in about 93 years!

Oh, but it's 'somebody else's money' we're wasting, so I guess it's OK!

Perhaps the city leaders should employ the same thinking the average person does when determining whether or not the higher costs can be justified.

the city willl need to impose a weight and girth limit for these "fancy little cars". Too many overweight employees at City Hall. They won't fit in the car.
