Kansas unit home after year in Iraq

? More than 150 soldiers have returned to Fort Leavenworth following a one-year deployment in Iraq.

The soldiers are members of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 705th Military Police Internment and Resettlement Battalion. They were greeted by friends and family on their arrival Thursday night at the northeast Kansas post.

Capt. Albert Ross said the soldiers trained Iraqi correctional officers and turned over two detention facilities to the Iraqi government.

The Leavenworth Times reports this was only the second time since World War II that a full unit had deployed from Fort Leavenworth.
