KU’s Tharp to miss this season, may take medical redshirt

Kansas University football coach Turner Gill confirmed today that linebacker Huldon Tharp has suffered a foot injury and may take a medical red-shirt this season.

Tharp, a two-way standout from Mulvane, started seven games last season and finished fifth on the team in tackles with 59.

Tharp, 6-foot, 220 pounds, entered 2010 expected to compete to retain his starting spot. However, he missed the final few days of spring drills because of a foot injury and was held out of the spring game in late April.

The latest setback appears to be a reaggravation of the same injury that bothered him this spring.

In addition, Gill announced that wide receiver Tertavian Ingram also had a foot injury that would keep him out 3 to 4 weeks, and running back Rell Lewis has a knee injury that will keep him out 2-3 weeks.
