Soldiers from 1st Infantry Division return to Fort Riley from Iraq

? More soldiers from the Army’s 1st Infantry Division have returned to Kansas from Iraq as the war mission enters a new phase.

Members of the division’s 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team arrived Thursday at Fort Riley to a reception from family and friends.

The soldiers come from various units within the 4th Brigade. They deployed to northern Iraq in August 2009.

The United States is reducing its forces to about 50,000 soldiers who will transition to a support mission for the Iraqi security forces.
