NU stability?

To the editor:

After reading the article in this paper on Aug. 3 about Nebraska’s decision to bolt the Big 12, I am confused. According to Tom Osborne, NU’s athletic director and former football coach, the decision to leave was about “stability.” According to my research, Nebraska has been in the same athletic league affiliation with Kansas, Kansas State, Mizzou and Iowa State since 1907, which by my math is 103 years.

Since this apparently was not stable enough for the Cornhuskers (formerly known as the Bugeaters), may I suggest that they seek affiliations with the following: Uranium 235 (half-life of 700 million years), Uranium 238 (half-life of 4.4 billion years), the sun (estimated remaining life of 5 billion years) and the Kansas Turnpike Authority (estimated time of completion of repairs — ???). Hopefully this will be stable enough for them.
