Bristol Palin calls it quits with Johnston

August 4, 2010

— Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston have called off their second engagement after he told her he may have fathered a baby with another woman.

Palin declined to identify the woman to People magazine, but a pregnant ex-girlfriend of Johnston has publicly denied he is the father.

Palin, the 19-year-old daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, said Johnston told her about the baby on July 14, the day the couple announced their re-engagement. Bristol Palin and the 20-year-old Johnston have a toddler son together, Tripp.

Representatives for Palin and Johnston did not immediately return requests for comment Tuesday.

Palin had said she didn’t have her mother’s full support over reconnecting with Johnston. She said both her mother and father worried she would get hurt again.

Palin said the “final straw” was when Johnston told her he was going to Hollywood to see a hunting show, but actually went there to star in a music video mocking her family. In the video being shot this month in Los Angeles, Johnston will play a lover whose romance is thwarted by his girlfriend’s disapproving mother. The project is based on the song “After Love” by singer-songwriter Brittani Senser.

“He’s just obsessed with the limelight, and I got played,” Palin told People.

There's quite a difference in a person looking to offer herself up as an example of what certain mistakes can do to your life and another merely seeking the limelight. But the 'whore' comment shows just how classy you are, so....

Did she think he would be celibate after she kicked him to the curb two years ago?

The Palin and Lohan soap operasare getting boring. There's so much other news that is much more interesting and "need to know" than this trash.

And to think my right-wing friends bag on Chelsea Clinton. Comparing Chelsea and Bristol isn't even fair.

Tom, Sarah Palin neglected the opportunity to sit down with her daughter years ago. I need Sarah to talk some more about family values at her tea parties.

"Sarah Palin neglected the opportunity to sit down with her daughter years ago...."

Boy, that's an idiotic assertion. First of all, considering Palin's stances on such issues AND her career path, I think it's safe to assume that she did have THE conversation with her eldest daughter. Second, pretty sure Bristol isn't the first child to do something her parents strongly disapproved of, probably happens with ever tick of the clock. But let he who is infallible and has absolute sway over EVERY action their family makes cast the first stone........

Jaywalker.... I don't think it is safe to assume anything when it comes to Sarah Palin. I appreciate you calling me an idiot but the fact is, Tom asserted that it was time for them to have a "come to Jesus" sit down. I am only saying that that conversation should have taken place a long time ago. I assume nothing.

You are the one making assumptions. And let's not forget that it is Sarah Palin that preaches "family values" on the Tea Party stage. Without assuming anything, she should have started those values at home a long time ago. She is the one bringing this on, not me.

Never called you an idiot, Al, just the assertion. And sorry, but your point is nothing but assumption. Mine is too, but at least it's based in rationality and common sense whereas yours' is based on nothing but sarcasm and scorn. And I find it particularly hilarious when people like yourself throw 'family values' at someone as if it's a bad thing. Just because a member of a family does something wrong, illegal, anti-social, unwholesome, whatever - that doesn't automatically cheapen the message nor the person who espouses such a value. But I'm guessin' that's either too difficult for you to fathom or merely too inconvenient for you to admit. You'd have a leg to stand on if Palin herself had hypocritized the message, like House members who cheat on their wives after preaching such, but pretending that Bristol getting pregnant is all due to Palin "not talking to her" and that she didnt "start those values at home a long time ago" is just plain intellectually void and a pathetic attempt to belittle someone just 'cuz you don't like 'em. She's bringing this on? Not you? That's rich.
