Election step

This year’s Kansas primary offers many reasons for voters to get involved.

There may be as many people going to the polls today to vote against certain candidates as to vote for others.

And that’s OK.

Whether they are casting votes of enthusiastic support for a candidate or simply picking what they see as the lesser of the evils in a race, it’s important for voters to make their voices heard.

Because so many incumbents chose to leave their posts to make a run for another office, this year’s Kansas primary has drawn far more attention than usual. The campaigns haven’t always been pretty, but they’ve been difficult to ignore.

As always, today’s primary is an important preliminary to November’s general election. Voters shouldn’t skip this important step in the democratic process.
