9 a.m. The storm the caused the National Weather Service to issue a severe thunderstorm warning for southeast portions of Douglas County has weakened and the weather service will allow the warning to expire.

Heavy rain and small hail were still possible, but that hail was expected to be below the threshold for severe weather.

The National Weather Service at 8:41 a.m. said the storm was 13 miles southwest of Ottawa, moving northeast at 60 mph.

Baldwin City is in the path of this storm, as are Pomona and Centropolis in addition to Ottawa.

8:40 a.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for southeast Douglas County until 9 a.m.

At 8:29 a.m., trained weather spotters reported a storm producing quarter-sized hail, 13 miles northeast of Burlingame. The watch also covers portions of Franklin and Osage counties.

The storm was moving northeast at 70 mph.
