A judge ordered a Lawrence man to stand trial on charges of running over a woman he was having a domestic dispute with.

Delbert New III was in Douglas County District Court for a preliminary hearing Friday morning.

At the conclusion of the hearing, Judge Sally Pokorny determined there was enough evidence for New to stand trial on a charge of reckless aggravated battery.

New was arrested after police said he pushed down a woman he'd been arguing with and then drove over her with his car.

The incident happened March 7 in the 1200 block of Almira.

Prosecutors also filed an additional alternative charge of felony leaving the scene of an accident.

Lock this guy away and have him get a reality check. Anger is a terrible emotion to make you deliberately run over someone with a car

deliberate and aggravated ... as opposed to drunk and indifferent.

seems like if you run over a person in this town (walking or biking) all the offender gets is a slap on the wrist. The DUI guy who killed that young lady on the bike, slap on the wrist. The student who did not clean their widshield of ice killing that old man on the sidewalk with her car, slap on the wrist. Who needs guns. You can just run em over and be home for diner
