A Eudora man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for trafficking methamphetamine during a three-year period in Lawrence and other nearby communities.

Dustin Stoneking, 26, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess methamphetamine with the intent to distribute and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Stoneking admitted in his plea that he and co-defendants Wade Johnston and Randy Lucero conspired to distribute meth from June 15, 2003, to April 30, 2006.

Federal prosecutors said Stoneking progressed from selling an eighth of an ounce of meth in summer 2003 to 23 ounces of meth a week by 2006.

Stoneking was paid up to $1,200 an ounce for the drug.

According to court documents, on several occasions in 2005, Stoneking drove to Salina, picked up shipments of meth, disguised to look like dry wall boxes, and loaded them into his trunk.

Stoneking stored the meth at an apartment in Lawrence.

Stoneking was arrested in November 2005, after a month-long investigation by the Eudora Police Department that culminated with officers and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department executing a search warrant at Stoneking’s home on Ithica Court, on the west side of Eudora.

Authorities seized drugs, paraphernalia and a stockpile of weapons.

Lucero was sentenced to 27 years in prison. Johnston’s sentencing is scheduled for June 1.
