Peace and Justice winners to be honored

The Lawrence Coalition for Peace and Justice has announced the winners of this year’s Tom and Anne Moore Peace and Justice Awards, named in honor of two of the coalition’s founders.

This year’s winners are Katherine Dinsdale, an advocate for the homeless who serves as chairwoman for the Community Coalition of Homelessness, and Enrique Penaloza, an advocate for Latin American immigrants in Lawrence.

The Save our Neighborhood Schools group is also being honored with an award for its “response to drastic budget cuts in the school system.”

The awards will be presented at the LCPJ’s annual meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Lawrence Visitors Center, 402 N. Second St. The event is open to the public, and will feature a potluck dinner and entertainment.
