Lottery considering accepting another round of proposals for casino south of Wichita

? The Kansas Lottery Commission meets Friday to decide whether to accept new proposals for a state-owned casino south of Wichita.

The issue arose when the St. Louis-based Chisholm Creek partnership withdrew its application earlier this month to build a casino near Mulvane.

Under the Kansas law authorizing one casino in each of four areas, the Lottery would own the rights to the new gambling and the gambling equipment. But it would have a contract with a developer to build and manage the casino.

If the Lottery Commission decides to accept new proposals, it will have 90 days to take applications from developers who want a casino contract.
