Three Kansans were honored for their efforts to preserve the state’s tallgrass prairie land. They were former U.S. Rep. Larry Winn Jr. of Overland Park, E. Raymond Hall of Kansas University and attorney and former legislator Charles Stough.

Tom Maupin, popular co-owner of the internationally known Maupintour, Inc., travel service in Lawrence, died at the KU Medical Center. Maupin for years had been instrumental as a benefactor and civic leader in Lawrence and had built his travel service into one of the world’s finest.
