Kansas University’s basketball team had been left out of the 1970 NCAA tournament, won again by UCLA with a victory over Jacksonville. However, KU coach Ted Owens and his Jayhawks admitted they had high hopes of making the tournament and its Final Four the following season. And they did, featuring Dave Robisch, Roger Brown, Bud Stallworth, Pierre Russell and Aubrey Nash.
