25 years ago: Animal care unit in works

The Kansas Board of Regents authorized Kansas University administrators to seek planning money for new animal care unit at the medical center in Kansas City. There was an immediate need for $290,000 in planning money.

Liquor by the drink would likely be approved in Douglas County and in much of the rest of the state, said a Lawrence member of the group that helped push the long-controversial drinking law measure through the Kansas Legislature.
