Sunflower Broadband adds, shifts HD channels

Sunflower Broadband changed some of its high-definition channels Thursday, both by launching new ones and shifting existing ones.

New HD channels available to Sunflower Broadband customers who have an HD box and are subscribed to the Bronze package or higher:

• 257, Spike TV

• 258, Comedy Central

• 260, CMT

• 265, MTV

• 266, VH1

• 276, Nickelodeon

Sunflower also realigned several of its existing HD channels, so that they would “mirror” their basic broadcast versions. Viewers now can find the HD programming simply by adding a “2” to the beginning of the station’s standard-definition channel number:

• KSMO moves to 203, from 211.

• KCTV now 205, from 201.

• KCPT now 207, from 209.

• KMBC now 209, from 200.

• KTWU now 211, from 203.

• KSHB now 214, from 202.

• KMCI now 215, from 207.

• KCWE now 217, from 206.

DVR recordings should not be disrupted as a result of the channel changes.

As of Thursday, Channel 206 now provides a standard-definition simulcast of Channel 6 programming. The move is considered a steppingstone for providing Channel 6 programming in HD in the future.

On April 30, Sunflower plans to make HD Net available on the company’s Variety Pack, in addition to being available on the HD Pack. HD Net Movies, however, will remain available only on the HD Pack.
