25 years ago: Church construction behind schedule

The 71st Kansas Legislature took first adjournment after a marathon session that approved a resolution to let voters decide whether to amend the state constitution to permit liquor by the drink and reached agreement on a pay plan for state employees.

Construction of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church at Harvard Road and Kasold Drive was under way but work was behind schedule. There were hopes of some activity at the church by mid-summer.
