CU’s Bzdelik to meet with Wake Forest

Buffaloes coach expected to accept potential offer

Boulder, Colo. — Colorado University basketball coach Jeff Bzdelik met with his team and told it he had neither accepted nor been offered the coaching position at Wake Forest.

Bzdelik said in a statement released Sunday he informed his squad that he will meet with Wake Forest officials today to talk about the opening.

All indications point toward Bzdelik taking over at Wake Forest, though.

Sources told ESPN.com that Bzdelik told those close to him that he wouldn’t fly to Wake Forest if he wasn’t going to accept a potential offer. CBSSportsline.com and foxsports.com reported earlier Sunday that Bzdelik would be accepting an offer from Wake Forest.

It seemed the CU players had a good idea what will happen at Bzdelik’s meeting today.

“I know already,” CU guard Nate Tomlinson told the Boulder Daily Camera. “It’s done pretty much.”

Wake Forest fired coach Dino Gaudio last week after three seasons in which he compiled a 61-31 record. Gaudio was a combined 1-5 in Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA Tournament games.

Bzdelik is 36-58 in three seasons with the Buffaloes.
